Invasive species of insects can wipe out entire species of trees in a given location. The Emerald Ash Borer is currently (2012) in New York, approximately 25 miles from the northwest border of Connecticut.
The ash borer has been found in 12 states since 2002. Any suspected signs of emerald ash borer in the state should be reported to The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station.
