In the 21st century, forests are valued not only as recreational facilities but also as a vital component of a healthy environment. Forests are recognized as an important resource for the atmosphere, converting carbon dioxide into cellulose and oxygen. A recent study by the U.S. Forest Service found that global forests absorb a third of all carbon emissions, helping to counteract the negative results of fossil fuel consumption.
